If you are not eligible to apply for immigrate to Canada under federal immigration program, Provincial nomination is a valuable route to immigrant to Canada.

Provincial Nominee Program

The Provincial nominee Programs allow Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals who wish to immigrate to Canada and who are interested in setting in particular province.

Each Canadian province and territory (except Nuavut and Quebec) has its own unique Provincial nominee program. Each PNP has at least one immigration stream that is aligned with the Express entry immigration selection system.

Two General process to become permanent residence under provincial nomination program:

  1. Paper-based process
  • Apply to the province or territory for nomination under a non-Express Entry stream
  • Meet the eligibility requirements of the province nomination program
  • Submit a paper application for permanent residence to immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada after Province nominated
  • Pass a medical exam and get a police check
  • Final decision of your application
  1. The online process through Express Entry

Two way to apply:

First way:

  • Apply for a province or territory nomination under an Express Entry stream first,
  • then create or update an Express Entry profile after you have been nominated.
  • Submit an electronic application to IRCC after you are invited

Secondly way:

  • Create an Express Entry profile and show the provinces and territories you’re interested in
  • Contact the province or territory directly if it sends you a “notification of interest”
  • Apply to provinces’ Express Entry stream,
  • Accept the provinces’ nomination electronically form EE account after you are nominated
  • Submit an electronic application to IRCC after you are invited

In general, application processing times of Express Entry are shorter than through paper- based
