Alberta, referred to as Alberta, is one of the three Canadian prairie provinces and one of the only two provinces in Canada that are not near the sea. On February 16, 2022, the Alberta Immigrant Nominee Program (AINP) officially changed its name to the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP). At the same time, Alberta has also introduced two new immigration categories, the Rural Renewal Stream and the Rural Entrepreneur Stream.​

Several other changes have been made to the immigration program:​

The application conditions for existing immigration categories and pathways have not changed. All other post-decision procedures have not changed.
Immigration to Alberta is an economic immigration program written and administered by the federal governments of Alberta and Canada to nominate individuals for permanent residence in Alberta. Alberta Skilled Immigration EE Category

The Alberta EE category allows the Government of Alberta to select a specified number of qualified candidates from the EE system. Applicants with strong ties to Alberta or who can contribute to the government’s economic and regional diversity are eligible to apply; international students who have graduated from Canadian higher education institutions may also apply under this category.

Selected candidates are contacted directly by the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program, and candidates are invited to submit applications only.

Application Requirements

  • The account is active in the federated EE pool;
  • The account is active in the federated EE pool;
  • are pursuing a career that supports Alberta’s economic and diverse development;
  • CRS score of at least 300

The following factors may increase the likelihood that an applicant will receive an invitation:

  • Alberta work offer and/or work experience;
  • Graduated from a Canadian post-secondary institution;

  • French is the first language.


Applicants may be less likely to receive an invitation if:

  • EE accounts will expire in five months or less;
  • Your current occupation is on the Alberta Opportunity Immigrant Disqualified Occupation List;
  • The occupation currently engaged in has more places to submit in AINP immigration applications.

Under the Alberta EE category, if the applicant is currently working for or holds a job offer from an Alberta technology industry employer in an eligible skilled occupation, his application may be expedited, and the applicant’s The occupation must be on the Alberta Technology Industry Pilot Occupation List.

Application procedure:

  1. Get an offer from an Alberta employer;
  2. Apply for LMIA (2-3 months);

Note: Applicants of the Tech Career Acceleration Pathway believe that they meet the application conditions and must first fill out the Tech Industry Pilot form. This form includes the applicant’s job offer in Alberta and relevant information about the job, as well as the applicant’s EE pool. personal information. Alberta Rural Revitalization Immigrant Category

The Alberta Rural Renewal Immigrant Category supports the attraction and retention of newcomers to rural Alberta through a community-centred approach, supports local economic development needs and promotes community development to address the current challenges of rural Alberta communities. Employment needs and skills shortages.

The Rural Revitalization Immigrant Category empowers rural communities to recruit and retain foreigners to live, work and settle in their communities. The rural community must first apply to the Alberta government to become a designated community designation. The applicant must be endorsed by the designated community and meet all the application requirements of the immigration project.

Designated community

1. Community living requirements:

At the time of submitting the application and the AAIP assessment application, the applicant must intend and be able to live and work in a designated community in Alberta.

2. Community endorsement requirements:

Applicants must hold a valid Endorsement of Candidate Letter issued by an Economic Development Organization (EDO) in a designated rural community in Alberta at the time of submission of the application and AAIP assessment application. This endorsement letter must outline the following:

  • The name and address of the EDO supporting the application;
  • the full name and residential address of the applicant;
  • Real job offer details:
    • Company Name;
    • the name and contact details of the employer;
    • work place;
    • a description of the position and job responsibilities;
    • term of employment and working conditions;
  • detail how filling of the offered positions aligns with economic growth in the designated community;
  • The employer’s efforts and results in Canada to fill the vacancy;
  • The name, title and contact information of the issuer of the endorsement letter.

3. Job offer requirements:

At the time of submitting the application and the AAIP assessment application, the applicant must obtain a bona fide full-time job offer or employment contract from an Alberta employer for an eligible occupation in the designated community.

An Alberta employer must be registered or registered with the legislature of a province, territory or parliament in Canada and operate as a business with an established production capacity, factory or place of business in Alberta.

The job offer or employment contract must be signed by the applicant and their Alberta employer and must provide:

  • Continuous paid employment in a designated community;
  • full-time employment, defined as at least 30 hours per week;
  • employed for 12 months or more;
  • Salary and benefits meet the provincial minimum wage, and
    • meet or exceed the requirements set out in the LMIA, or
    • If LMIA exempt, meet or exceed the minimum starting salary for the applicant’s occupation in all industries in Alberta listed on the Alis website.

At the time of application and assessment, applicants must meet the terms agreed in the job offer or employment contract.

1) Licensing, registration and certification requirements

At the time of submitting the application and the AAIP assessment application, applicants must meet the following licensing, registration and accreditation requirements:

  • Applicants must have the license, registration or certification required to pursue their current occupation or job in Alberta, and information on occupation-specific requirements is available on the Alis website;
  • If the applicant is in a compulsory trade in Alberta, they must hold a valid Alberta Apprenticeship and Trade Worker (AIT) endorsement certificate;
  • If applicants are working in child care in Alberta, they must have a valid certification as a Level 2 Early Childhood Educator (formerly Child Development Worker) or Level 3 Early Childhood Education Specialist (formerly Child Development Supervisor) prior to applying for the AAIP. 2) Unqualified job offers

The following persons are not eligible to apply for or be nominated under the Rural Revitalization Immigration category even if they have a 12-month job offer of 30 hours or more per week:

  • part-time, temporary or seasonal employees, regardless of their hours of work;
  • Independent contractors, business owners or temporary agency workers, including individuals listed on the Companies Registry System (CORES) as directors, shareholders or agents of Alberta employers;
  • An employee working in Alberta whose workplace is not part of a commercial or industrial operation, such as a home-based business;
  • Employees not working in an Alberta office, such as those working in a “virtual” location or telecommuting from a location outside Alberta to serve their employer.

4. Occupational Requirements

Most occupations under the National Occupational Classification (NOC) skill levels 0, A, B, C and D are eligible for the AAIP.

Individuals with job offers in the following occupations are not eligible to apply or be nominated at the time of application submission and assessment of the application.

5. Qualified work experience

At the time of application, applicants must have at least 12 months of full-time work experience in an eligible occupation in the last 18 months prior to application. Work experience may be in Alberta, Canada (outside Alberta) or a combination of previous experience abroad.

Work experience in a qualifying occupation must be at least 30 hours per week of paid full-time employment that meets the following requirements:

Graduate work permit holders who have completed a two-year post-secondary program at an IRCC-designated learning institution in their designated community are not required to meet the 12-month work experience requirement.

6. Language requirements

When submitting an application, applicants must provide evidence of the following English or French test results:

Approved language tests include: CELPIP, IELTS G, TEF Canada and TCF Canada.

Language scores must be within 2 years before submitting the application.

7. Academic requirements

At the time of submission of the application, applicants must have completed at least a high school education, and qualifications outside of Canada must be certified by ECA.

8. Settlement Funding Requirements

At the time of submission of the application and the AAIP assessment application, if the applicant does not live in Canada or is currently in Canada but not employed, the applicant must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to support themselves and their family members in the designated community.

Funds must be free and readily available to you to meet the minimum settlement funds requirement. Personal assets such as real estate, jewelry, and cars are not eligible.

Alberta Advantage Program Opportunity Category (AOS)

The Alberta Immigrant Opportunity Category is for foreign worker candidates who are already working full-time in Alberta and have a full-time job offer in a qualifying occupation from an Alberta employer. Candidates must hold a positive Labour Market Impact Assessment (LMIA) OR One of the accepted LMIA exempt work permits. Applicants must also meet other residency and work permit type, occupation, language, education, work experience, Alberta job offer and minimum Alberta work experience requirements.

Application Requirements

1. Residence status and work permit requirements:

  • • Applicants must be currently living and working in Alberta and hold a valid temporary resident status authorizing them to work in Canada (e.g. temporary foreign worker);

  • • Open work permit holders issued under IRCC’s Open Work Permit Public Policy for graduate work permit holders who have previously or are currently graduating from a public higher education institution in Alberta.

2. Occupational requirements:

  • The applicant is currently working in an eligible occupation in Alberta; and
  • The applicant is currently working in an eligible occupation in Alberta; and
  • Most NOC 0, A, B, C or D occupations are eligible, and all applicants’ occupations cannot be on the Alberta Opportunity Category ineligible occupation list;
  • Graduate work permit holders must meet the following conditions:
    • Work in Alberta at the time of submitting the application, and the occupation must be related to the major studied in Alberta. Applicants who are admitted after April 1, 2019 and complete a one-year graduate certificate program must also have an occupation that was previously in Relevant undergraduate or graduate programs studied outside of Canada (one-year graduate certificate programs should be consistent with previous undergraduate or graduate programs);

3. English or French language requirements:

  • NOC 0, A or B occupational English or French test scores are required to meet the language level of CLB/NCLC 5, and C and D occupations meet the language level of CLB/NCLC 4;
  • If the applicant’s occupation is 3413 (Nurse Assistant, Nursing Assistant and Patient Services Specialist), a CLB/NCLC 7 score in English or French is required;
  • Recognized exams include CELPIP-General, IELTS-G and French TEF, and the language scores must be valid for 2 years at the time of submitting the application;

4. Educational Requirements:

  • From January 1, 2021, at the time of application, applicants (excluding graduate work permit holders) must have completed a minimum high school education that meets Alberta standards, and overseas applicants must pass ECA qualification certification;

      • A paid internship as part of an Alberta post-secondary program study may also be considered valid work experience, as long as the following conditions are met:
      • Paid internships are full-time jobs of at least 30 hours per week;
      • Internship work experience directly related to the current occupation;
      • Internships are all done in Alberta;
    • All applicants, including graduate work permit holders, must meet the following licensing, registration and accreditation requirements at the time of submission of the application and at the time the AINP assesses the application:
      • Applicants must have the required license, registration or certification to work in Alberta;
      • If the applicant is working as a compulsory certified tradesman in Alberta, they must hold a valid Alberta Apprenticeship and Trade Trades (AIT) approved tradesman certificate;
      • If the applicant is a child care worker, must hold a valid certification as a Level 2 Early Childhood Educator (formerly Child Development Worker) or Level 3 Early Childhood Educator (formerly Child Development Supervisor).

6. Job offer requirements:

Note: post-diploma certificate or post-baccalaureate certificate: Some institutions offer certificate programs that require completion of a diploma or degree for admission. These programs vary in length and usually focus on improving professional skills.
